Anna Bakach
Choir Conductor & Singer

About me
My name is Anna Bakach, and I was born in Odessa, Ukraine. From the age of six, I started studying music as my parents noticed my inclination toward it and enrolled me in music school for dance classes. Later, I began studying singing, piano, solfeggio, and choir. I spent every day at music school, enjoying my education and the opportunity to participate in various local competitions, where performing on stage gave me great pleasure.
After finishing high school, I decided to enroll in the K.F. Dankevych Music College to study choral conducting. There, I was introduced to new works and immersed myself in choral music. During college, I participated in the All-Ukrainian competition, where I won first prize, and took part in various projects as a choir artist and in ceremonial events of the Odessa City Council. After graduating from college, I continued my studies at the A.V. Nezhdanova Odessa National Music Academy, where I earned a bachelor's degree in choral conducting in 2021. Continuing my master's studies under the guidance of Professor E.M. Bondar, I won first and second prizes in competitions and the Grand Prix at the competition in Nizhyn in 2021.
In addition to music, I graduated from the Odessa Ballet School, where my report concert took place at the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theater. In 2019, I enrolled in the academic vocal program at the academy, studying under I.V. Berlitzova. That same year, I participated in a project led by German conductor Jan Hübner with his Rathschor choir (Bremen, Germany) in Chernivtsi, performing Mendelssohn’s oratorio Elijah. Since 2016, I have worked as an assistant conductor at the A.V. Nezhdanova Academy’s pedagogical school of practice with a children's choir directed by E.M. Bondar (“Solo Musica”), with whom we participated in international competitions in Germany, France, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and other countries.
Before the war, while living in Ukraine, I also worked as a singing teacher. From 2021- 2022, I taught singing at the Odessa Theological Seminary, providing lessons for choir students aged 15 to 19. From 2020- 2021, I taught singing at the Acting School for Children at the Odessa Film Studio, where I gave singing lessons to children aged 5 to 9.
When the war started, I moved to Wroclaw, Poland, where I continued my studies as a vocalist and received a one-year scholarship from the Europa Chor Akademie in Görlitz (ECA Europe Chor Akademie Görlitz). In 2022, I participated in the academy’s projects: Frühlingserwachen under the direction of Sylvain Cambreling and Europa Chor Fantasie Volkslied trifft Jazz under the direction of Paweł Serafin.
After completing my studies at the academy, I moved to the Netherlands, where I am currently studying for a master’s degree in choral conducting at HKU Conservatorium. My main teacher in Utrecht is Rob Vermeulen. I am also a singer in the Makivka ensemble, a Ukrainian female ensemble based in Amsterdam.
